Letter From Founder
Creating an organization that was geared toward teens have been a long dream finally realized. We are dedicated to offering programs that builds tomorrow’s leaders today while teaching them to make better choices. We understand that no teen want to know how much you know until you show them how much you care. Therefore, we explore their skill sets through programs, events, clubs, and activities that build self-esteem. KC Society continues to grow and connect to teens on a daily basis encouraging them to be who they were called to be: to live on purpose.
Teens are encouraged to be themselves and be kingdom commanders of their own destiny. It is not about the situation they currently face or have to deal with daily, it is about the future possibilities and opportunities that lie ahead. We help to change the mindset of the teens who believe there is no hope. And encourage those who see their future bright and budding.
We Believe:
Teens are creative if given the chance and opportunity to showcase it
Teens are caring and supportive if taught how to engage in such activity
Teens should be valued for the contribution they are given to the community
Teens should be acknowledged as a valuable part of society for their role in it
Teens should be engaged in all parts of society to be better productive members of society when they get older
We believe every teen should always “Enjoy their childhood while investing in their future”

KC Society’s Beginning
KC Society is an organization designed specifically for teens and founded March 28, 2008 as a safe haven for ages 14 to 19. KC Society offers creative and balanced services to impact the youth in the community by focusing on and attending to their abilities, skills, talents, and aptitudes with events that allows them to use them skillfully. We will impact their educational goals; provide job opportunities, mentor-ship/apprenticeship opportunities, and support.
The idea of KC Society was born out of the passion of a teacher for at risk teens for over 15 years. Kerry-Anne Purkiss created the KC Society concept through a need of keeping our teens safe and off the streets. She opened a kids clothing store named Kids Closet Boutique to help fund the venture. Social entrepreneurial-ship began with Kids Closet first store in 2004. She understood the need for funding to start the teen organization and began to build income to make it come to pass. With the start of KC society in 2008, she closed her stores in the summer 2009 to pursue the idea. Since then, the organization has grown in leaps and bounds. The new location is located in the Heart of New Smyrna beach and continues to overflow with teens.
Our Purpose:
KC Society, Inc (KC Society) Corporation shall exist for the purpose of offering creative and balanced services to impact the youth in the community by focusing on and attending to their abilities, skills, talents, and aptitudes with events that allows them to use them skillfully. Our Mission
- Keep our Teens Safe: They need to feel both physically and emotionally safe to maximize their development
- Teach Relationship building: They need to establish healthy and positive relationships both within their peer group as well as with adults
- Teach how to build on their skill: They are improving their own innate skill sets while learning to develop new ones
- Encourage Community Involvement: Teens need to have a hands-on approach to the community they live in. they must become contributors and not just takers.
- Youth participation: Giving our teens a voice in determining the programming in which they participate allows to them grow into productive and charitable adults
Teach them to Live on Purpose
What is a Social Entrepreneurial Organization?
Is not a new a concept. It is based upon using entrepreneurial tools to handle social situations. Taking several entrepreneurial business tools and implementing them into a financial backing system. KC Society uses that model to help them engage in fiscal responsibility while dividing the economic burden. We engage in providing the community with numerous worthwhile events while ensuring the success of our programs.

When I started I had no idea the dedication and commitment I would get outside of myself. However, I have found several of the most understanding and caring individuals in my lifetime, outside of my family. They are so family oriented and have a clear love and vision for our teens future. Their sticktuitiveness (yes, just coined by me, smile), have given me even more energy and excitement to keep moving forward. To them I say…THANKS GUYS..YOU ARE SUPER SUPER AWESOME!
